For Primary Care in Optometry
This 1 hour course aims, through online learning and the completion of an end of course multiple choice test, to help you develop and improve your knowledge of the different types of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and the conversion between AMD types. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Provide an effective explanation to patients presenting with AMD about their condition, its management and any referral or treatment that may be required.
- Understand the ability of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to discriminate between different stages of AMD and to be able to identify clinically significant lesions requiring referral
- Understand common risk factors of AMD
- Distinguish between wet and dry AMD using OCT and make appropriate recommendations for management in practice or referral

Entry Requirements
This course has been designed for individuals who wish to improve their knowledge of different types of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) on OCT and the conversion between AMD types.
