BARS Administration Certificate

British Association of Retinal Screeners (BARS) Administration Certification

This course has been developed for administration / failsafe staff in Diabetic Eye Screening.

Since City and Guilds was withdrawn, there has been no formal education material or certification for administration / failsafe staff in Diabetic Eye Screening. BARS Education Group has therefore created a certification which takes elements of the original City and Guilds unit and expands it to cover a wider knowledge and skills framework.

A student starting this course will have:

8 modules to work through and 12 weeks to complete the course. Each module provides information, links, and 6 quiz sections.

By the end of the course the candidate will understand:

  •        The Principles of Screening
  •        Information Governance, Informed choices & Consent
  •        Impact of Screening
  •        Quality Assurance
  •        Understanding Diabetes
  •        Administration & Patient Management Systems in DESP
  •        Exclusions & Suspensions
  •        Communication

The course also includes a competency assessment to confirm proficiency upon the patient management system, confidentiality, and the processes for dealing with individuals.
