Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners
This is a nationally recognised qualification and provides evidence of transferrable skills that support academic and personal development. It is on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF), regulated by OFQUAL and is based on the demonstration of work based competencies. The qualification is delivered via distance learning through an online portfolio and local assessor support.
It includes a series of mandatory and specialist screening/grading units. There are a number of pathways depending upon the screening/grading role. Currently, the pathways are for the following staff groups:
- Diabetic Eye Screening/Grading staff
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening staff
- Newborn Hearing Screening staff
Each pathway has a different combination of units made up of mandatory and specialist units. Please select the relevant pathway from the list below for further information, including the specific pathway units and course fees.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
This qualification is applicable to staff who assess learners undertaking the Health Screeners Diploma. The qualification is delivered via distance learning through an online portfolio and ongoing tutorials.
Level 4 Award in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
This qualification is applicable to staff who internally quality assure assessors supporting learners undertaking the Health Screeners Diploma. The qualification is delivered via distance learning through an online portfolio and ongoing tutorials.

Entry Requirements
Learners must be working in an appropriate NHS Screening role in order to start the qualification. All learners will require a qualified Assessor to start the Health Screeners Diploma qualification.
