Gloucestershire Research & Education Group are developing bespoke courses and assessments to be provided on Keeler’s new online resource and education hub https://resourcehub.keelerglobal.com/. Created for a wide range of audiences including partners, distributors, students, eye care professionals and staff, the courses cover a variety of topics including eye anatomy and slit lamps.
TOPCON HEALTHCARE UNIVERSITY
Topcon Healthcare University (THU) is a living, growing platform to meet the education needs of those involved in eye health. Their educational offering is continuously developing with new and relevant resources added each month.
THU offers a wide range of content: from tips to ensure you get the most from your Topcon products, through to premium peer-to-peer learning. THU has the information you and your staff need to take full advantage of your Topcon Healthcare investment.
Gloucestershire Research & Education Group continue to work with Topcon to produce a series of online courses in a variety of subjects, to be provided on their Topcon Healthcare University platform. To date, we have developed courses on Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Macular Oedema, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Papilloedema.
WEST OF ENGLAND PATHOLOGY NETWORK AND PENINSULA PATHOLOGY
The West of England Pathology Network and Peninsula Pathology are two leading pathology networks serving the South West of England. The West of England Pathology Networks brings together nine sites across six organisations in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, and Somerset. The Peninsula Pathology Network comprises five sites within four organisations in Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. Together, these networks are committed to transforming pathology services and supporting sustainable, high-quality healthcare across the region.
The Gloucestershire Research & Education Group is working with both networks to develop interactive e-learning resources for biomedical scientists pursuing specialist training in Haematology, Transfusion, and Cellular Pathology. These resources are designed to support learning and make specialist training more accessible and engaging.
ORBIS INTERNATIONAL / ORBIS CYBERSIGHT
Cybersight is a boundary-pushing, not-for-profit telemedicine initiative founded by Orbis International to help mitigate the shortage of skilled eye health professionals in developing countries, and help those in remote areas combat geographic isolation.
With advanced online training tools and access to international expert faculty and trainers, Cybersight is a global platform that helps eye health professionals improve their skills, collaborate on diagnosis and treatment of their patients and connect with a truly global community of practice that includes technicians, nurses, optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Gloucestershire Research & Education Group have worked with Orbis on projects related to Diabetic Retinopathy.
DIABETIC EYE SCREENING WALES
Diabetic Eye Screening Wales is one of eight Welsh national screening programmes, responsible for providing diabetic eye screening to all individuals aged 12 years and over with a diagnosis of diabetes (excluding gestational diabetes) registered with General Practitioner (GP) / Healthcare Setting within Wales.
Gloucestershire Research & Education Group developed a bespoke set of courses and assessments on Image Quality in diabetic eye screening specifically for photographers and graders working for Diabetic Eye Screening Wales.
BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF RETINAL SCREENING (BARS)
Since 2001, the British Association of Retinal Screening (BARS) has been the UK’s professional organisation for those who provide retinal screening services for people with diabetes. We offer education, representation and support to a wide range of professionals involved in diabetic retinopathy screening, and our members include retinal screeners, graders, administrative and failsafe staff, programme managers, optometrists and ophthalmologists – in fact anyone with a professional interest or involvement in diabetic eye screening.
Gloucestershire Research & Education Group have provided hosting and administration services to BARS for their Administration Certificate intended for administration and failsafe staff since the City & Guilds was withdrawn. There are 8 modules to complete over a 12 week period.
DIABETIC RETINOPATHY NETWORK
The Diabetic Retinopathy Network (DR-NET) was formed in 2014 with the aim of building capacity in LMICs to establish integrated DR screening programmes to photograph the eyes of people with diabetes in order to identify and treat those with sight-threatening disease. The DR-NET is built on the foundations of the VISION 2020 LINKS Programme where eye teams in LMICs and the UK work together to build capacity to tackle the priority eye health needs of the LMIC partner. There are now 22 DR screening partnerships in the network representing 18 countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific.
