OCT Interpretation in Diabetic Retinopathy

This course has been designed for individuals who are employed in a clinical context and undertake, or have the opportunity to undertake, OCT interpretation. This module focuses on Diabetic Retinopathy and provides students with the knowledge required to be able to recognise features of this clinical disease and common abnomalities detected from OCT scans, to inform their clinical practice.
The teaching is provided by Gloucestershire Research & Education Group and participants will receive an in-house certificate from the Gloucestershire Research & Education Group, on successful completion.

By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the features of clinical disease and common abnormalities detected from OCT scans in diabetic retinopathy and interpret these to provide and evaluate treatment options
- Demonstrate an awareness of different lesions and abnormalities and the reasons for these and recognise how these can be used in interpreting differences in current and previous OCT scans
- Operate in situations of varying complexity and demonstrate the ability to understand the patient management pathways that might be followed based on interpretation of the OCT scans in combination with the digital colour images

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but students should be employed in a clinical context and have the opportunity to undertake OCT Interpretation.

Students have 8 weeks to complete this course. It is delivered on our online learning system, and to be certificated, students must successfully pass an end of module one hour exam, which can be accessed between weeks 5-8 of the course.
There are no specific start dates, students can register anytime.
