OCT Interpretation in Glaucoma

This course has been designed for individuals who are employed in a clinical context and undertake, or have the opportunity to undertake, OCT interpretation. This module focuses on Glaucoma and provides students with the knowledge required to be able to interpret OCT scans used in detecting and monitoring this disease, to inform their clinical practice.
The teaching is provided by Gloucestershire Research & Education Group and participants will receive an in-house certificate from the Gloucestershire Research & Education Group, on successful completion.

By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Interpret OCT scans that are used in detecting and monitoring glaucoma, including the three main parameters relevant to the detection of glaucomatous loss
- Identify and evaluate the limitations of OCT measurements in the diagnosis and monitoring of chronic simple glaucoma, including sources of misinterpretation
- Interpret progression (trend and event analyses) with knowledge of the ‘Floor effect’
- Assess circumstances in which there is a correlation of OCT with any visual field abnormalities

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but students should be employed in a clinical context and have the opportunity to undertake OCT Interpretation.

Students have 8 weeks to complete this course. It is delivered on our online learning system, and to be certificated, students must successfully pass an end of module one hour exam, which can be accessed between weeks 5-8 of the course.
There are no specific start dates, students can register anytime.
