OCT Interpretation in Neuro-Ophthalmology

This course has been designed for individuals who are employed in a clinical context and undertake, or have the opportunity to undertake, OCT interpretation. This module focuses on Neuro-Ophthalmology, and how OCT scans can help with diagnosis, management, and follow-up of neuro-ophthalmic conditions and neuro-ophthalmic manifestations in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, optic neuritis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and pituitary adenoma. It provides students with the knowledge required to be able to recognise, assess and interpret OCT scans, to inform their clinical practice.
The teaching is provided by Gloucestershire Research & Education Group and participants will receive an in-house certificate from the Gloucestershire Research & Education Group, on successful completion.

By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the most useful OCT parameters in the management of neuro-ophthalmology conditions
- Analyse how OCT can be used in multiple sclerosis, demyelinating optic neuritis, Alzheimer`s, Parkinson`s disease and pituitary adenoma
- Interpret OCT scans in the differential diagnosis of papilloedema and pseudo-papilloedema comparing alternative methods and techniques for monitoring idiopathic intracranial hypertension

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but students should be employed in a clinical context and have the opportunity to undertake OCT Interpretation.

Students have 8 weeks to complete this course. It is delivered on our online learning system, and to be certificated, students must successfully pass an end of module one hour exam, which can be accessed between weeks 5-8 of the course.
There are no specific start dates, students can register anytime.
