OCT Interpretation in OCT Angiography

This course has been designed for individuals who are employed in a clinical context and undertake, or have the opportunity to undertake, OCT interpretation. This module focuses on OCT Angiography (OCT-A), and how this imaging technique can detect conditions such as AMD, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma. It provides students with the knowledge required to be able to recognise, assess and interpret OCT-A scans, to inform their clinical practice.
The teaching is provided by Gloucestershire Research & Education Group and participants will receive an in-house certificate from the Gloucestershire Research & Education Group, on successful completion.

By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Assess and interpret the structural integrity and changes that occur in the superficial and deep capillary plexuses in diabetic retinopathy, artery and vein occlusions and macular telangiectasia
- Interpret OCT-A scans in wet macular degeneration to determine the location of the CNV, its morphology and its response to anti-VEGF therapy
- Assess the potential benefits and limitations of the use of OCT-A scans in Glaucoma
- Analyse the advantages and limitations of OCT-A in comparison to fluorescein angiography and recognise the artefacts produced in both systems
3.5 non-interactive CPD points are available to individuals who successfully complete this course.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course but students should be employed in a clinical context and have the opportunity to undertake OCT Interpretation.

Students have 8 weeks to complete this course. It is delivered on our online learning system, and to be certificated, students must successfully pass an end of module one hour exam, which can be accessed between weeks 5-8 of the course.
